Associate professor at AU-IBT publishes the result of a European-American research project which he coordinated.
The book titled “Engineering in Context” is a result of a European-American interdisciplinary research project launched in April 2008 at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. The aim of the book is to gain a better understanding of the contexts in which engineering activities are situated within the larger realm of human activities. 40 scholars from Europe and the United States took part in the project. From AU-IBT associate professor Steen Hyldgaard Christensen and director Erik Ernø-Kjølhede took part. From Aarhus University, Department of Science Studies associate professor Matthias Heymann took part. Steen Hyldgaard Christensen has been the initiator and coordinator of the research project.
The publication of the book is followed by a symposium in Dublin, Ireland from 2-3 July 2009 under the aegis of Engineers Ireland. The symposium is titled “Engineering in Context”. One of the aims of the symposium is to launch a new European-American research project entitled “Bridging the Gap between Cultural and Technological Citizenship” to be coordinated by Steen Hyldgaard Christensen.
